Individual Therapy

I take a collaborative approach to therapy and my goal is to create a space where you feel safe, accepted, validated and supported. My treatment is tailored to the individual, taking into account personal needs, goals, and values. The therapy styles that I use in my practice are Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). These therapies all use strategies to change thought processes and shift behaviours patterns.  I am also a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional. The practice styles that I use are evidence based forms of therapy and are supported by empirical research.

I provide individual therapy to those seeking help for eating disorders, disordered eating, body image concerns, and anxiety disorders.

Anxiety disorders that I work with include generalized anxiety disorder, panic attacks and panic disorder, and specific phobias.  I also work with obsessive compulsive and related disorders, including trichotillomania (hair-pulling), excoriation (skin picking), and body dysmorphic disorder.

Additionally, I work with borderline personality disorder, emotion dysregulation, suicidality, and non-suicidal self-injury.

I am Certified Clinical Trauma Professional and I use Cognitive Behavioural Therapy techniques in my trauma treatment. Trauma-Informed care is an established practice that can dramatically improve the outcomes for individuals in therapy.

Some technique that may be incorporated into treatment are relaxation training, self-regulation, exposure and narrative strategies.

I work with individuals that have a formal diagnosis of PTSD as well as those who identify an experience as traumatic without a diagnosis of PTSD.
