Anorexia Therapy in Calgary and Alberta
Compassionate support for healing your relationship with food, your body, and yourself.
Living with anorexia can feel exhausting. Thoughts about food, weight, exercise, and body image can become overwhelming, making it difficult to fully engage in work, school, relationships, and the things that you once cared deeply about. You may feel caught between wanting relief from the constant mental and emotional burden of the eating disorder while also feeling afraid of what recovery might mean. Over time, anorexia can begin to take up more and more space in your life, making it difficult to feel present, connected, or like yourself.
At Still Leaf Psychology, our psychologists provide compassionate, evidence-based therapy for adolescents and adults experiencing anorexia nervosa and restrictive eating patterns. Whether you’ve recently begun struggling or have been living with an eating disorder for years, recovery is possible. With the right support, you can develop a more peaceful relationship with food, reconnect with your body, and build a life guided by your values rather than the eating disorder.

What is anorexia?
understanding anorexia
Anorexia nervosa is much more than wanting to lose weight.
It is a complex mental health condition that often involves intense fear of weight gain, rigid rules around eating and a strong connection between self-worth and body shape or weight.
Although anorexia often affects eating behaviours, it is rarely just about food. Many people also experience perfectionism, anxiety, obsessive thinking, shame, and emotional distress. Anorexia can also co-exist alongside other mental health disorders such as trauma/PTSD and OCD, and personality disorders.
Everyone’s experience with anorexia is unique, and recovery looks different for every person.
SIgns you may be struggling with ANorexia
Anorexia can affect every aspect of a person’s life. While everyone’s experience is different, many people notice persistent thoughts, emotions, and behaviours that make it difficult to have a peaceful relationship with food, body and self.
